Anyone ever run this Purple shaft?

I have 3/8 sender, 3/8 hard line into a stock replacement pump, which goes into a 5/16 line to the carb. I'm getting the feeling I need to get a new pump to try as well. The real funny thing with this car it just stops at 5500 and will not go any higher at all. I wonder if the module stops making spark at that rpm, sort of like a rev limiter.

Sound like lack of fuel. This campulls 6k plus,with any decent 10:1 small block I have seen it in.(280 Comp.).
 

Put at least 3.91 gears in it. check your tach that cam is so mild it won't suddenly die @ 5500 rpm. it's closer to 290 than 280 @.006 and you may have a Valve spring(I freakin hate (995's,yep long story) or fuel issue or simple tune issue.
