Anyone running cross ram STR12?

Won a STR12 off eBay. Still waiting for it to arrive. I was looking at some old stuff on the web saying the top plate can crack due to a backfire. Wanted to know if guys install a pressure release valve as a precaution. What kind and where to mount it?

Richen it up so it doesn't backfire, this is the problem lean causes backfires!
More squirt, bigger cam, bigger nozzle, bigger jets, ect.

would not be a bad idea, I popped a 1/4 plate top on mine. (should have been 3/8 anyway) put this where you can or something similiar, or run the Holleys with the vent in them? maybe too small..
