I have not yet installed the Formula S black wrinkle finished valve covers. But moving them around since painting, I have some minor blemishes. Don't know if paint got bumped, paint flaked off, or maybe it's just dirt/soil. Anyhow, for now and future reference, can this type of specialty paint be touched-up the same as other finishes, or will that mess up the wrinkle finish worse? Thank you.

I don't think you can "touch-up" wrinkle finish paint. I tried it before with some Harley pieces & it did not work. (tried it multiple times) I had to strip the parts down & re-do the whole thing. That is just my experience though.

You can "touch up" the wrinkle part with other wrinkle paint, then you will need to lightly touch up the entire cover with black to even it out. Do both covers to match.

Overall better and easier to strip and repaint (or powder coat).

If small dings and scrapes bug you now, obvious touch ups will be worse and always catch your eye, even if no one else notices.

Strip them and do it right. Your hemi deserves the best.

I like this idea. Simple, and easy. If it doesn't work, then strip it.

I wish I had a hemi (just "borrowed" the photo to impress everyone).

Probably will need to strip them and start again. If so, I’d also think about using a powder coated finish, Textura is a very nice, uniform wrinkle, powder coated finish by AkzoNobel. These are my SBM covers powder coated in this finish.
