Have a 1971 automatic column shift column in my 1972 Duster. Converting it to a console shift column and bought the manual collar set for 1971 up, being Classic Industries MP14054. Also bought new ignition key switch kit MD3134 and ignition switch MD2185. Electrically everything seems to be right but different. Position 1 is where key removes on the new key switch and the old switch was position 2 with position 1 being accessory. On the new key switch position 2 does nothing electrically and 3 is On and 4 is start. So what am I missing, should i have an accessory spot or is position 2 just do nothing??? So confused... help.

I don't know about column key but...

Typically
  1. Insert key
  2. Turn key (top of key to rear of car) should be a ACC
  3. Turn key (top of key toward front of car)
  4. That should be the key insert /remove position
  5. Turn key (top of key toward front of car
  6. That should be run position
  7. Turn key (top of key toward front of car
  8. That should be start position.
  9. Release key
  10. It should self return to run position.

Now all that being said there could be a extra position needed for the the column lock, I just don't know.

Ok, I figured this out, accessory is heavily detented so I had to use more force to click it back since it’s all new parts. The 2nd position is for the unlocking of the column etc which I am leaving out.
