My friend almost had his race car and trailer stolen on Friday afternoon. He lives in a remote area with a long driveway and works from home. He saw a truck come down the driveway and start backing up toward his trailer. Thinking it was a contractor he called earlier in the week he walked out of the house and the truck took off. He was pretty shaken by the incident. It's that time of year folks, the thieves are out there and daylight does not stop them

I hate thieves! My neighbor nearly had their trailer stolen from their yard a month or so ago. Him and his girlfriend both ran out of the house with guns drawn and the perp got out of Dodge real quick like!

He installed another camera and put a sensor in the driveway which is really just a narrow gravel path. I'm thinking it wasn't the first time they were there because they came in and backed right up. I told him to remove the wheels on one side of the trailer when it's not race season, that might help

A trailer up on blocks will certainly make it hard to roll out of the driveway! Glad to hear it did t go anywhere.

yeah a GPS tracker on car and trailer would be a big help. Stopping the theft isn't good enough, they need to be caught. Cops should leave trailers around filled with ... cops. Let them pull it to where ever they pull it and when they open it.... bunch of cops come storming out :D

They need to be caught and then caned. Publicly.

GPS trackers are inexpensive . So is .38 special .
that .38 would get REAL expensive in Cali if you used it on a trailer thief....glad you all got better laws than we do. I think GPS would show you where your car got parted out. Chain it to a big tree, video surveillance is cheap now and very good.

How about a lock on the hitch.

Or a denver boot! They sell them on ebay.

Make it obvious! Crook want easy

He bought a trailer lock that looked pretty sturdy but a youtube video showed how to break it with a crowbar in less than 7 seconds. I think the cameras and GPS is probably the best solution

Unless you need the cash/insurance money prevention is always better in the long run. Tracking, insurance and that after the fact crap is B.S. save yourself the aggravation and make it theft proof. For a trailer in the driveway I would put anchor loops in the concrete. Why? because the whole trailer can be pulled onto a flatbed trailer. A GPS can be found with a sniffer, quickly remover and tossed in the bushes. A garage door can easily be opened unless bolted shut. Prevention is the best remedy.

Just remove their thumbs with some bolt cutters when you catch'em while a neighbor holds them at gunpoint.
Then make them eat them.

If they would actually punish them it would happen less. If they did get caught it would probably be 9 months probation and restitution that you would never see. Hate a thief.

Been there we went to Disney and when we came back thousands worth of stuff was gone. We suspected that it was the next door relatives who had come a day before we left and were gone when we got back. Never proved it.

HELL, I believe Seattle passed or is passing into law "if you steal & you're addicted to drugs" you won't be prosecuted.

.
*That don't make no sense*. Quote from O Brother Where Art Thou.
Basically what the court is saying is it's up to you the victim to punish the thief they don't want to mess with it.

So. If I'm a drug addict I can steel and not get punished. But if I have 2 beers and get DUI it will be on my record for life. Makes perfect sense. I am in no way down playing a DUI. Just saying.

.38 Special is almost impossible to find, and very expensive. I would donate to his cause, though. Seattle is actually using this as their new protocol. Less than $200, they walk. There are crews that go into stores with each stealing less than $200 worth of merchandise. The police are handcuffed by the socialist city council. Cops, They're quitting in droves. I won't go into Seattle any more. I don't even go into King county. Businesses are leaving in droves. Now the state wants to pass a capital gains tax. As soon as my wife retires, we're outta here.......

You do a crime on drugs and you get sympathy and drug rehab in a plush sober house. You get a DUI and you pay 10K and lose your license and probably your job too. In CA if its under $1000, you get a ticket. I think there was a you tube video surveillance of 2 big guys walking out of a CA Walmart with a 70" tv and they just walked on out. No one tried to stop them, they calmly put it in the back of a plateless truck and left.

Lol.

A girl I dated in high school is now the state rep for Seattle, and she pushes for all that stupid **** they're doing.

Man, I'm glad she dumped me.
