hey, i decided that i wanted to try and put a console in my twister, but did not want to spend a few hundred on it whether i liked it or not. so, thanks to barracudekid, he let me trace a 4 speed top plate, and this is how she turned out.

think it will work.?

there was a guy that just listed a hurst shifter for sale, that had a looks to be 3 inch offset to the passenger side. i decided to buy it, and use that shift arm, with this top plate. i made the hole a little bigger, just to be sure of no hitting.

yea, took like 4 hrs.lol but i had only one to trie it on. if i messed up, i would of been jb welding it back together.lmao

yea, there is a member that lives not too far away, and he has a nice one for i think he said either 300.00 or 350.00 for the top plate. now, don't get me wrong. if i hAD THE CASH, I WOULD OF BEEN ALL OVER IT, but i do not, so it was free to get the template off of it.lol

Looks good, interesting to see how you get the boot mounted. The real mccoys are getting hard to find!

well, i cut the little "tits" off of the auto one ( the part that held the gear selector sign), and i am going to mount them where need be. but i am thinking of using a oval non cosole boot. i like the look better

Looks great, going to do something like that myself, is that door edge trim around the opening?

so, i decided to go ahead and use a non console boot, as i do not have a 4 speed square one.

at the moment, it is a stock handle.lol, but it is not too far off. i just bought a shifter hendle from this site, and appears to have a 2-3 inch "jog" to the right side. i am sure that will help, and if i have to, i will bend as needed

Brewers performance has the factory style console handle new for $200, my buddy just got his, it looks awesome!

190.00 more than i got to spend.lol

I hear that brother, I am going non console for now myself, I have a console, but can't talk the wife into buying the top plate, and shifter handle to make it right, they look so cool with the console though!

yea, i figured i would do some polish engineering.lol.

don't have a picture yet, but my 4 speed reproduction shift boot started to rip within months of putting in the car

I had a shift boot made out of the same ultra leather that my interior is made out of. Just put it in getting the car ready for the World of Wheels in Indy

Might be a good option for you

the boot i am using is not a repro. it is a stock non-console oval boot. i think it looks betther than the square ones. but thank for the thought

nah, i made it as a one time thing. but if i had to, i could go copy it again, as the guy is a awesome dude to deal with, and has alot of nice items

ok, after getting a real 4 speed boot from barracudakid (thanks:) ), i was able to use the offset shifter that i found in the classifieds on here. i had to notch, then bend and re-weld the handle some, but not much. i think it turned out great!. now i want to find a real nice top plate to do it to. this one was just a learning experience

Hey 340 plot, does the automatic console hole lay right on tip of the shifter hump hole? I also have an automatic console that I may be willing to try this out with, looks awesome! If the holes don't align, is that what the weird bent shifters are for? Let me know as soon as you can because if just any shifter wont work I'll have to reject the shifter the 4 speed guy I'm talking to tomorrow has. I believe he had a hurst and a inland shifter but not sure which ones.

Thanks :thumblef:
