Bought this 67 Dart GT convertible about 3 months ago. It was stored in a pole building. My wife and I went down an alley to a garages sale and on the way out I caught a glimpse of a dart. the door on the building was only up a couple feet. Just enough for me to see it was an early Dart. The guy living there was a renter. I tracked the owner down he said somebody had offered him $$$ but had not committed to the deal. I asked to see the car next day. The car was parked in 2010 had not been started in over 15 years. The top was down and the tires were flat. He said it was a 340 I check and it was a 69 340 727 auto with a console shift. He said the motor was a fresh rebuild. I could see the MSD Ignition system, Distributor, coil, wires, ceramic dipped headers, X heads, Edlebrock RPM Highrise manifold topped off with a 750 double pumper Holly. I told him what I was thinking my offer would be, we were 2 k apart of what he was thinking so I asked if the other guy had put any money down he said no. So I paid the guy in cash on the spot. Loaded it on a trailer headed home. Motor had no oil pressure when cranked. I pulled the intake it go through repriming process. Shocked when I seen what was on the inside of motor. I called the previous owner. I asked him what he had done and why he sold it to me. He said he was going to install nitrous on the car but after he broke the engine in he jumped on it and it scared him so bade he parked it in the building and never started it again. Full roller cam, solid lifter, rockers, ported and polished X heads, Fluid Damper, 9 Qt oil pan.. I put the car on the hoist. The under carriage had full under coating, sub frame connectors, all stainless lines, brake, trans and fuel lines. Front end was new everything including shocks on all four corners. 8 3/4 posi rear end the axle seals were leaking and the wheel cylinders. I installed new updated sealed axle bearings and retainers and new brakes. The drive shaft was new as well. Just crazy how much had been done to the car just to walk away and leave it sitting for so long. I have drove it a couple times. This thing is off the hook a ground pounding beast. It will be going in for the exhaust this week. Flow masters with 2.5 exhaust out the back.

Welcome! Looks like we are from the same area. Congrats on the car. Looks like a fun ride. Was it a local find?

Greetings from 90 minutes south! That's a great story and a sweet score - keep us in the loop as the project moves forward.

I think we passed each other over on Avery today around 3:30.
I have been taking for short trips until I get the exhaust installed. I just got the flow masters and the stainless tips yesterday. My exhaust gut is going to try to get it done this week, I did not see your Duster. I live out by Mary's corner

I was in a silver Pacifica minivan. My Duster is strip only.
