1st goal was accomplished. I wanted to run 13.9's with 2.45 gears, stock tranny and converter, stock exhaust manifolds, and what is basically a stock 360. A little trial and error I ran 13.9's consistently with 1.9 60 ft times consistently.

Now it's time for the next goal. Go faster. Improve.

Here is my starting place. Replacing the 770 Street Avenger with a 750 double pumper

Are you looking for a certain time out of it? What is the goal?

          As fast as I can ... :D
I would like to go 12's .... that is my next goal looking into next year.
I will have to get there a tenth or two at a time. So far I've been lucky, the car has liked everything I've done to it so far. Eventually, it will rebel against an idea or two ... LOL :D

Maybe I'll see you in the 12s! I'm going to start with 4.10s and a higher stall convertor.

Well, good converter and good gears is the easiest way to start. I'm sure you'll get there before me. :)

Last one in the 12.00s is a rotten egg! My goal next year is 12.99. Gonna bump compression, tune, and put the Duster on a diet this winter.

Some of us don’t mind doing some work to hit our goals. Any idiot can add the blue bottle. What’s your next suggestion possibly joining the me too LS movement.

Is there a rundown on this car? Sorry if I messed it in another thread. Was this the drag week one or am I thinking of someone else?

I think he was referring to the LS based GM engine swaps. Not limited slip.

Yep, natural aspirated only. Anybody can plumb a bottle or hang a turbo. I know of a couple locally that has scattered a motor or two using a little (too much) NOS. A couple has melted down with boost and one ended up in the guardrail when the mid track boost was out of control.

As for cheapest stuff - I'd do a set of used cheapie headers, and buy a hole saw set and put it to good use. Stupid things like cutting the un-used portions of the front end bolts off will get you faster for time invested. plus the headers are lighter, and will help the 360.

I am guessing you like the gearing, and the convertor will not do much IMO until you get some other stuff to where it will.

I remember years ago Hot Rod magazine had an article called Caddy Hack.
They took an old Cadillac, and started cutting weight out and running it at the drag strip, after cutting a part off.
In the end it was not much more than a steering wheel and a seat.
The e.t. went down, as the weight was removed.

yeah, Mopar magazine did it to a big '63 something... LOL with a 413. They went from 17's down to 12's by cutting the hole thing apart.

Tall task for the 750 DP to outperform the 770 VS Street Avenger in this particular application. The 770 went a solid .15 and 1 mph faster than the 600 eddy. But I love the 4779 Holley DP

Starting out with 70 primary/80 secondary (how they sell new)
                                    6.5 PV
squirters 28/31 (again, how they sell new)
Should be interesting, we'll see :)

I alway had good luck with the 4779. I think it will walk the dog on those other carburetors.

It's 28 degrees here tonight. I hate cold weather.

I think the carb's a step backwards but that's me.

For clarification, is that, “Using a carb is a step backwards.” Or “that specific carb is a step backwards?”
