My 1973 duster has the bolt-on side marker lights, has anyone tried modifying the mounting areas to accept 1970 marker lights? I like having marker lights, but the factory ones look silly and cheap. The 1970 marker lights are recessed into the body which, in my opinion, looks way better. Thoughts?

"Frenching" the lights is cool/another cost cutting maneuver the bean counters did, very surprised that someone didn't think of using the 3m reflective strobe tape they were using as "graphics" it actually had more reflective power !

I have thought about this but never tried it.

Get two blocks if hard wood, carve a recess into one and a corosponding rise in the other. ( The shape of the recess for the market light)

Then some bolts to sandwich the two parts between the fender and tighten till the wood forms the shape.

Hope that makes sense

I understand the punch/die thing

how about

Looks like it might work, my only concern would be clean edge
