Well, I need to do something with these Barracudas. The black on is a '67 I think and the white one is a '69. 20201005_161409.jpg 20201005_161403.jpg 20201005_161417.jpg
My Dad took them on a trade to help a guy out, and the guy was supposed to bring titles and what not. Long story short he claimed I owed him money after my Dad passed, but he never told my dad that. The '67(?) is pretty much junk, but the '69 could be a decent car. I need to clean up around them and try to get some vins to see if anything can even be done with them, but I hate to scrap them too. I know there is a vin plate under hood, and isn't there one in the trunk? Any thoughts on what to do with them?

I hate to say it, but you could make decent money parting them out. The front sheetmetal is desirable, and there are multiple "one year only" parts on these guys. If you dont have titles, thats the way I would go.

The hood is wrong for the '69, but if I remember correctly it's pretty straight except the front valence. I would rather not part them out though.

I hear you. I have a '67 Fastback, and love these cars. I have spent a lot of $$$ buying up spare fenders, doors, front valences etc. When they pop up for sale in my area, I but them and put them on the shelf.

If you can get titles, that '69 could be made into a nice street car. Maybe racecar the '67!

I agree. I just have too many projects to even try to take these on. And I hate seeing them lay around a rot even further.

Well since you already have too many projects and you're not going to get around to these, post them for sale as whole cars and you won't be wasting time cutting them up. Let someone else do it.

Think it would still be beneficial to try and get titles?

Absolutely, more $$ in your pocket and someone can build a car w/o hassles.

To answer your question, the 67 has a VIN in the drivers door jam. There is a Fender Tag on the inner fender next to the battery. The 69 has a VIN in the dash right in front of the steering wheel. Same location for the Fender Tag as the 67. That is, if the Fender Tags have not been removed, as they are attached with a couple of sheet metal screws. Looks like a 67-68 hood on the 69. The Sequence Number is stamped into the radiator support and the drivers side trunk drip rail. The Sequence number is the number on the lower line of the Fender Tag at the right side.

Thank you! I'm going to take the weedeater this weekend and clean it up so I can look around. The whole debacle has been frustrating, but I need to get these cars sorted. The '67 is in rough shape, the '69 isn't as bad but it needs some love.

Try to sell complete. Parting them out will take some time. I see $2k in fenders and grills on the 69.
As mentioned fendertag on inner fenders tell what the cars truly are, option wise. Post pics. If the 69 has a "p" or an "h" as the 5th digit in the vin, it's a $$ car.
                          I think the 5th digit on 67 is "e" or "h" for a $$ car.
Good luck, post vin and fendertag pics.
                          Good luck.

I used to live in Bristol, VA from 1969 to 1972 and was pissed when my parents moved back north. Hopefully next year I will be back in TN but further west...

Once you gather the pics and titles and prices, place this information in the "for sale" forum

I AM NOT A LAWYER. IM NOT GIVING LEGAL ADVISE.

                              IMHO...
I hate to say it but unless there is a really good bill of sale, whoever holds the paper title owns the car. Title holder could claim they were stolen, and unless you have paper evidence your on the hook. Your late father telling you something probably would not stand up in court.

If the title holder wants more money and it is financially worth it hand cash over AFTER he hands you good clear titles that have been verified at the local DMV. Get bill of sale and any other proof you can that they now belong to you.

                              OR

Tow them to the title holders house and be done with it.

If you part the cars out you could be considered a chop shop.

                              Again:

This is what I would consider if I was in your shoes.

No, not the Crosswhites, but I always liked seeing them run at Bristol. I’m wanting to say they ran a slant six valiant called Half a Hemi and then a small block colt called Crimson Chariot, and maybe a ‘69 charger, too. It’s been to long since I’ve been, going to have to get back there.
