Hey I have seen the round reverse lights on various years of the Barracuda, does anyone know which ones which year? or if any? I seen so many pics of Barracudas, notch back, fast back, convertible, and most do not have reverse lights on them????

I have a 1968 Convertible and mine are rectangular.....

    Anyone???

In 68 they are incorporated into the outer rim of the tailight. 67 and 69 have three different lengths of round reverse lights on the valance, below the bumper. I think 67 had the medium length and 69 had either short or long depending on build date.

I am sure someone else will chime in.

As far as I know no one reproduces them and most are badly pitted. I have thought about trying to use early (65) mustang back up lights as they are reproduced and are similar.

Classic Industries shows the short style bezels for 67 and 69 and the long style for the 69. Both are round and about $170 per pair. I don't think lenses are included.

I totally agree with what you said.

I got a pair from Classic Industries, and after only 3 years, they are pitting already.

67 used short bezels, early build 69 used short bezels to deplete leftovers on assembly line, later build 69s used the longer bezels.

I think the shorter bezels look better IMHO

I like the longer ones. Size does matter.

Well I have a friend who has a 68 notch back, he and I checked some differences between his notch back and my convertible. Just as you said his reverse lights are incorporated into the white portion of the tail light. As my convertible is RHD, (one of the Warwick Wright imports to England), my reverse lights were wired to be turn signals (European specs require all four corners to be amber for turn signals), so some sort of aftermarket rectangular reverse light was added to my rear valance as part of that modification. I will probably never find a replacement......lol

Restore it. Put it back on. If yours is a factory export RHD id put that back on. Pretty cool making the incorporated reverse lights in the 68 into amber turn signals. Did they just use an amber bulb under the frosted plastic. So when its not blinking it looks white. If so thats bad ass.

Yes it has an amber bulb in it. I would like to put it back on but I have no covers for the lights...

Are there any markings on the light, or its lens? I am pretty good at finding this stuff on the net.

So the reverse lights were left alone, and these were the auxiliary turn signals?

Were they installed by the importer?

I saw some wierd shit on swedish imported cars on here that had to be done before customer picked them up.

The reverse lights were wired to be turn signals, these were added to be reverse lights, the fixture has not one mark, no number branding or anything, and i have no lens for either light so I have no information on any part thereof, sorry.

As far as installed by the importer, idk, this car was built in Hamtramck Michigan for export through Warwick Wright in England, so could have been done here or there....lol

Pretty slick having 68 reverse lights as signals actually. If i had a 68 i would concider modding it like that. Maybe use bicolor LEDs in amber and white and build a simple logic box for it them to light in amber as signals, and reverse to light in white.

Post up some good pix of both sides of this thing. I might be able to find them.

IMG_20180704_092421935.jpg This is the backside of the light as you can see, no identifying marks of any kind. I like your idea about wiring the turn signal amber LED and switching to white for reverse I might do that to keep originality to both US and UK specs!!

Would definitely be waaaay cheaper than trying to use factory 67 and 69 reverse lights. Its insane what people want for them. The lenses can be had as repops in plastic, and the housings and gaskets can be had as repop as well. The bulb sockets nobody makes and are the hard to find parts.

I have some spare 67 housings i plan on eventually selling that were severely pitted, i stripped them, bodyworked them with JB weld, and have 1 in an epoxy primer. See pix below. Need to finish the other one. They are not good chrome candidates, but decent enough to paint them body color. I have a set done just like this that i am keeping

those look good, certainly good enough to paint body color, go for it!
