I picked up an aluminum bellhousing for my engine run stand but it is too big for the flywheel! Bellhousing serial number is 3681131, which appears to have come from a truck and takes an 11" clutch. Guy who sold it to me told me it came off a 318!

Is there any (cheap... the one I got was a Zoom) flywheel I can use with this that will work with an internally balanced 318 but is big enough to reach the starter? The flywheel I bought is this one: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/zzz-50-3409/overview/

Or do I need to find another flywheel?

Thank you for any insight.

It may HAVE come from a 318......just out of a truck "Another way" around this problem is if you can find someone locally with an (uninstalled) proper bell or scattershield. Make a plate off that for a pattern to mount the starter.

If you need dimensions let me know. We can use my bell to make you a plate for your starter. I can get plate for you as well.

Or you could just return that flywheel to summit and get the 140 tooth one to match the bell you have ?

Thanks Luke - that's a pretty good idea about returning the flywheel. I may take you up on the offer to make one if I can't come up with some pieces that work!
It looks like Jegs has a 143 tooth that will work with internal balance: (link)
It lists a Ramcharger in applications... that's truck enough for me.

What kinds of vehicles might yo put this in? I would not order the big flywheel, unless you can make use of it otherwise

I have nothing with a manual transmission - this is just for the purpose of testing the engine (and/or future engines).
Part of me likes the idea of a bellhousing for safety and structural reasons. More stable when mounting a bellhousing to the run stand.
