Hi guys,

simple question. My federal mogul style pump on my 1970 Plymouth duster 340 leaks pretty bad. Who is offering the best replacement? I’m looking to keep the f-m style pump because of originality.

right now the shaft of the pump slides back and fourth a good 1/4 of an inch and leaks pretty bad.

while we are discussing the pump, who makes a replacement gasket for the fill cap?

I also have the same question for the power steering gear. Mine leaks everywhere, who is making a good oe replacement?

Thanks!

If you can get a kit, and you have a few bucks to buy a puller at Harbor Freight, you can rebuild it yourself. I did mine recently. IIRC the only external seals are the o-ring around the pump body and one around the bolt hole on the back side. Also the shaft seal. More Information for GATES 351170

FWIW, the shaft slides back and forth on all of them until they're spinning. I thought mine was shot too. Fill it up and it would basically run straight through it. Turned out it was just the bolt hole seal.

I had mine rebuilt by a Mopar specialist in GA, he did a fine job.
If you interested I can dig up his contact info.

Firm Feel and Steer and Gear rebuild power steering boxes. They can upgrade them too.
