I have a nephew that's going to be graduating soon and I am buying him useful books that he can have for future use.

He has a basic understanding of it all, but I know there are dozens of books out there, I am just not in the know on them because I never needed a book.

Thanks for the Help!!!

How about a FSM? Pick a year and type of car (hopefully a Mopar) and get the factory perspective, schematics, component repair, diagnosis. Good basics. Also many aftermarket companies have good info within their pages, cam companies, Classic Ind., etc. These catalogues may have books for sale. I have enjoyed books on various persons like Sox & Martin, Mickey Thomson and Smokey Yunick.

What are his interests? That would narrow up the choices a bit?

Also, how nerdy is he? If he nerds out on math I have some good titles.

one book that I have for racecar stuff or just general information is the MSD master wiring diagram book.

If you can find one; they are great to have.

Also, there is a lot of websites that are great to reference for this kind of thing.
Motorsports ECU Wiring Harness Construction

this is the all-out $10,000 wiring harness website for things like
F1 but the information can be applied to lower level street car stuff.

In my humble opinion, it is difficult to learn a whole lot from how to books in general due to the fact that there is only one perspective on how to do things "properly" as there is only one author. not to mention many of these books can be a little outdated. The biggest strides I made in learning electrical and how to wire things neatly and correctly came from just doing it and glancing at an ampacity chart every once and a while. And many of my early questions about it were answered by many people here.
