Best tire sizes

I just bought a 71 Scamp and the tires are questionable. As it sits now it has small bolt pattern 14" x 6" wheels with 185-70R-14 upfront and 14" x 7" wheels with 215-60R-14 in the rear. The only clearance issue I see is the rear tires are about 1" from the leaf springs. Can I go any bigger?

Joe, you can definitely go bigger...the limitation will be on those wheels first. 185 is probably about right for a 6" wide wheel, you could go a bit wider on a 7" wide wheel...
