Wondering what would be the best way to have this crack repaired.

Vee it out, heat it up goodn hot and hit it with some nickel rod.
Heat it after weld and cool it slow. Also peen it while its cooling.

and do it while its mounted. Shame to get it all welded up and have it crack again under tension.

D - All of the above. A slow oven preheat for hours would be better than a torch. A flat jig, also heated while it's bolted down. A welder who knows what he's doing might be the most essential ingredient.

I really don't have the equipment to make this repair and I don't want to give it to someone that don't know what their doing. Now I have some knowledge before turning it over to someone. Thanks

another solution for any possible distortion during the welding process is to get the mating face of the manifold surfaced after you weld it - like you do to heads to assure a perfectly flat mating surface

If it was mine, I would finish breaking it. Break that piece completely off. If you don't even it you repair it, the crack could continue. If you break it off, then prep it as outlined and weld it or have it welded, it will be a good repair.

I would also recommend having the engine side resurfaced after the repair.

              Is the manifold rare?
If not might be cheaper to replace than repair

I`d drill a hole in the end of the crack and dam sure have it bolted to a loose head/tite , before having a pro do it ---jmo

69 Dart swinger 340 original HP manifolds. Pretty rare and very expensive to replace.

If this is a rare manifold, best to have it welded professionally.
I would caution on above as several former employees and past owner started new business: Schell Welding in Cambridge, IA.

Don't know if they have a website.
Just had a rare manifold repaired by them, excellent work. In the repair, they even put the casting seam back in it. Have had them repair several rare items with excellent success.
