I have been working on getting this ready for the power tour ( 2013 ). I have the engine and tranmission mounted, frame connectors in and a narrowed 9". it should be back up and running in 2 weeks. I cna't wait to take it back out. the old slant 6 just was not cutting it.

I am just messing with you guys. I have got alot of help from here. between my and my racing buddy we have 7 bbc's and 15 power glides. I pulled this one out of my race car and hated to just let it sit under the bench. I love the old Swinger body style but went with what I had on the engine and trans. this is just the Sonic cruiser so me and the family can run around town and mess with the kids at the stop lights.

I've had a couple of sacrilegious thoughts of sticking a turbo'd 4.6 4V/4R75 in my '72 Scamp...biggest reason is kinda like the OP, I have access to them for a little bit of nothing. The 383/727 will still very likely be the engine/trans of choice, but I won't rule out the possibility of dropping a forcefed modular between the fenders.

If you have 7 of them you have a good chance of making a half good one.

That's going to be quite the radical upper heater hose you are going to need.
If it's a race engine, why didn't you go with headers instead of log manifolds that would choke that mill off big time?

on the manifolds it is just a cruiser and cast iron maniforlds won't leak and I have enough up keep on all the vehicles at my house. If it helps my wife drives a new charger. I started putting in the new interior last night. carpet, seats, package tray, and dash pad cover. it sure looks better than the white that was in it.

I see the problem and it's easy to fix. Sell all the chebbie stuff and buy some good ole Mopar stuff to throw in there. I think a turboed /6 would be faster. I always hear chevy is cheap, but I haven't seen that to be true if you are building a good engine..especially a BB. A friend always told me never rap a BB chevy past 4500 if you want it to stay together. I guess that's why there are so many aftermarket parts. I think I would sell a cheap 454 w/glide and there should be enough to buy an expensive 440/727, aluminum intake, headers, and a shift kit for the Dart.
If it helps any, my first thought was ford when I saw you downgraded. It's your car, so have fun. It does fit well and look nice, just make sure people know it's a chevy when you get spanked. :bootysha:

Now that I made fun of you, could you tell us about your subframes and give a couple of picks where they connect. They look like 2x2 tubing, but I don't see any proplems with hitting the floor board.

LOL, that's a good one! Yeah, I'd much rather hear and see more about the Charger than look at a BBC in a Dart...

the sub frame connectors are 2 x 3 x 1/8 tubing. I found an article on big block dart. I cut them to 53" and contourted them around the spring boxes in the rear. I did not use the plates in the front like the article had pictured my frame has a lump formed in it so I had to trim the front tube on the drives side around that. since mine is a 74 I did not have to move the e brake cable or anything. it was only $20 worth of tubing and a few hours work. I will get better pictures tonight. And for the black engine bay I have a pint of Frosty green that will cover the old nasty inner fenders and fire wall when the engine comes out this week so i can rebuild the transmission.
