BIG piston deck clearance issue

It's possible. Haven't seen that but once since 1974. Also possible is that the rod nuts have backed off. He will simply not know without verification.

Did you ever figure out what caused that 1 piston to stick up too high? Wrong C Height on that piston?

Yes. I think I said it somewhere in here already, but when I pulled the pan the nuts where half off of the rod and it was not sitting on the crank all the way.
