Anybody watch Bitchin' Rides? The season finale was some obviously very rich guy from Massachusetts. Look away if you haven't seen the finale or hate to see a straight R/T taken somewhere far away from stock.

I like it, they pulled the front of the roof line down about an inch but left the windshield hole intact. I like the grille work and the lights but the valance looks too big and overdone. Overall I like that they left most of the styling as is. Even the raised hood just mirrored the lines it had originally just inverted to clear the supercharger.

I don't think I would do this kind of build even with all the money in the world but this shop's fabrication skills are off the charts. I'd love to have a month of free time just to use their tools.

I really like the interior updates, it looks classy and still mildly classic.

Not really a fan of the underhood work but they obviously were going for "clean"

    Pictures in next comment.

Yep, saw the episodes. Is definitely a cool finished product. I couldn't afford their shop rates, but definitely would drive it.

What do you suppose that cost him? I was guessing 100k easy.

I was thinking around the same amount. I have seen episodes where builds took them up to 3 years to do. Can you imagine the cost of a 3 year build? I do love their work and certainly admire the skills those guys have. I often daydream of what I would have those guys build if I was a lottery winner or something. Dave seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Yeah they seem like a pretty good group of guys personality and humor wise, and professional to the hilt. That body shop manager was loopy on no sleep! Yeah, I think I would probably pay extra just to watch them work too. That guy doing the roof line butt weld was like watching a master artist.

I think more than any part I was really excited by the interior and that was the work they showed the least!

I don't remember them spending much time on what they did to the engine bay but knowing these guys I would guess they are in some sort of NASA approved heat shield sleeves. :D

A friend of mine owned that car in the '80s/'90s. The "before" pics they showed were taken on his driveway in mid '90s.

Grille really reminds me of a 68 charger. Super nice work.

Agree , bet it was way way up there.
What better car to change the looks of, the 66-7 chargers and coronets were the ugliest B bodies Chrysler ever made , just because of the front ends on the coronets.

If you follow history- all the cars going to the big shows followed this route.
Chevy, Fords, then Caddy and Mercury.

MoPars were the latest cars to finally get “over custom” or “totally modified.”
This was due to happen but cost of the initial car prevented this until now. The above mentioned cars dropped low in value before the got a totally modified look.

As for this car- I like it. Wish they used a basic car and not an R/T but... money talks.
I like the show and Dave on tv. Not sure of him outside of the show... never met him.
I’m glad he seems to run a good shop, well respected and does well for him self.

Thanks for this post. Love the pictures.

I don't think I care for that sculpted in front bumper.

The rest of it is slightly better than I was expecting.

...but do that to a 440 model /6 or 318 car and leave the clean, straight R/T's for stock, or bolt on mods please.

Why do people hate door handles?

All the "big builders" remove them. I like door handles.....

It's own of his signature items. They even sell a kit to shave the door handles and add their billet handle. The whole car is not my cup of tea but I respect the craftsmanship and time involved in building it.

Just my opinion, but I'd rather spend $50k and have a car that I can drive the wheels off of than to spend $250k and be afraid to pull it out into the sun.

Not a fan. I like stock type interiors, redone all nice. A lot of these high dollar builds do these over the top modern interiors and I just don't like them at all.

Not a big fan of customizing either but each his own. Prolly perfect in the “low rider” barrio’s.

A little too much customization for my liking. I'm also not a huge fan of the massive spaceship futuristic wheels, but it is certainly different and unique. I would rather spend $40K on the car and keep the $210K and enjoy the car. Now someone has a $250K car that will sit in a garage and be trailered around if it needs to move.

I definitely don't like the wheels and tires. He as much said that it will be a trailer queen to and from car shows.

I love the '66-'67 Coronets...it's one of those I keep an eye out for when I browse the classifieds. And this right here is about how I would do it:

Dave and 'Kevdog' were at the 2018 Grand National Roadster Show and spent some time signing autographs in the booth I was working in. I had a bit of time to talk to both of them and they're as nice as they are on the show. Great guys and outstanding shop work.
They had a really nice '66 Nova on display at their trailer - it sold at Barret-Jackson a week or so ago for $286,000.

The talented crew at Dave's shop turns out some of the best fabrication and design work out there... and for sure that kind of work does not come cheap. Coddington, Trepanier, Foose, Kindig and the rest, all regularly build cars for well heeled customers that are between 250 and 500 grand. I was told by someone who worked there that when Boyd had his TV show, they would turn away builds that were under 150K because "they didn't have time for the basic stuff". Some people just have more money than most of us can even imagine.

By the time I'm finished this Valiant, I'll have 40K in the car and that's doing everything except spraying the paint, by myself. And for me, even that 40K is a big stretch on the budget. But at the recent auction here in Scottsdale, I overheard two guys talking and one said, "I remember when spending 50K on a car was a lot of money. Now I'm spending 3 times that, and it seems way more affordable." I guess it's all a matter of how deep your pockets go. But I'll bet that at the end of the day, I will be more proud of my homebuilt 40K Valiant than that guy is of his 150K auction car.
