Is there a source for new black plastic light bulb holders, for the instrument panel bulbs?

When I assembled the new dash for my 1973 Duster, I was short a few holders that had both locking tabs intact. I could use about 4-6 more, then I can go pay $7 for a pair of #194 bulbs at Advance Auto Parts or maybe cheaper online.

Places like Layson's (a sponsor here), Mega Parts or Classic Industries sell them. Otherwise, start a Parts wanted ad to search for used ones.

The original Chrysler number for the 194/158 bulb sockets in a 1973 Duster is 2496279.

A common aftermarket replacement is Auveco number 9905. A search for "2496279 Chrysler" yields several sources. Some are selling the Auveco part.

The socket was also used by other manufacturers:
- AMC: 3509575
- IHC: 374985C1
- GM: 2973932, 5655006, 88860434

Other aftermarket:
- Standard Motor Products: HP4090 (2-piece "handy-pak")
- BWD (Borg Warner): PT103
- NAPA/Echlin: LS6501

- U.S. government National Stock Number (NSN): 6250-01-084-6399 (6250010846399)

Note that the 2496279 parts fits the 5/8" opening in the 60s and 70s vehicles that used this socket. In later models, the 194/158 build was still used, but the socket was revised to fit a 1/2" opening. The later socket will loosely fit in the earlier opening but will not reliably work.

The original Chrysler number for the later socket is 3744750, superseding to 4437565.

This socket was also used by other manufacturers:
- Buick/Cadillac/Chevrolet/Pontiac: 25085970 or GM: 2501569, 12004311, 25015169, 88860432
- Ford: C80Z-13711A, C80Z-13711-A, F4UZ-13B765-A, HU2Z-13B765-A, HU2Z13B765A

Aftermarket replacements for the slightly smaller socker include the following:
- Dorman: 85835, 639-009
- Auveco: 12237
- BWD (Borg Warner): PT102
- NAPA/Echlin: LS6500

I have bought them at Oreilly. Pay attention to post #3. The 1/2 inch are more common by far and I have bought them at accidentally.

No need to go to boutique sources or pay boutique prices.

The larger/earlier socket is NAPA Echlin LS-6501 or Standard Motor Products S503A (such as here). This one also works to convert '65-down cars from the bayonet-base to the wedge-base dash bulbs, which enables you to use the worthy LEDs.

The smaller/later socket is NAPA Echlin LS-6500 or Standard Motor Products S500A (such as here).

Thanks for the tips, I ordered from the amazon link, seemed to be the best deal to get sockets and bulbs all in one place.
