Block weight.

-
I set my 340 block on the bathroom scale and it came in at 165 lb

That sounds pretty close. The T/A block is ~ 15 pounds heavier than that, the X block was another 10 and I haven't weighed the R block yet (but I will) is said to be another 20 pounds over the X.

So that means:

340/360 is ~ 165
T/A is ~ 180
X block is ~ 190
R block is ~ 210...although that pig feels much heavier than that.

As we grow older we put on more weight, so I guess the older the block the more it weighs.

Someone stated the 273 block was lightweight compared to other LA's. I said it probably weighs more. Smaller bores = more cast iron. It depends on what cooling jacket cores they used.
