Getting ready to fire up my newly built Slant six and have a question. I built a HEI system using the Mopar HEI dist, GM module and E core style coil. I know people suggest running a jumper or soldering a wire on the resistor to bypass. Is there any reason why I can't just pull the wires going to the resistor and plug directly into that? Factory two wires going into the resistor and two wires coming out. Not sure if that would eliminate voltage elsewhere.

You are going to have to explain what you mean. If you connect the two ballast connectors together, then the original coil+ wire is what you need to connect to the HEI. This leaves anything in the circuit intact, including the starter bypass circuit (IGN2) and the branch to the VR
