J,o,u? I'm not sure what I've got here
casting number 348915-A. They have got 1.88/1.6 valves.
That's where I'm lost, no stamped letters, no 1. in fact I don't even see a date code on themThere should be a "1" in there. 3418915.
70-72 360 heads. The 70 T/A head used the same casting number with a 2.02 intake valve and of course, T/A treatment.
Is there an X stamping on it?
Interesting. thanks for the info and the only markings I see on the runner are 10j on one head and 8K on the other in the location where dates are normally cast.there are never any stamped numbers on these heads. all numbers and letters are raised cast. 3418915 with a 1.88" valve is 1972 340 and 1971+2 360, J head. casting dates are cast on the top of the intake port near a valve spring, abbreviated month day year, hard to see in the pics. and the guys working in the foundry did not worry about perfect markings, they were being pushed for quantity
That's what I needed to know. Thank you sir.they do not use the letter I (I think cuz it can be mistaken for a 1) . so I guess your heads are day, month and they left off the year. 10J is the 10th of september, and 8K is the 8th of october. and 1972 340 or 1971 or 1972 360. I worked in a steel foundry for 10 years, and bought my first 340 car in 1977 for $500.
