Hi folks.
I was wondering if I can remove my PS pump and cap off the box?
this pump has not had or held fluid in manny years so the box is prolly already hurting.
Just.looking to remove some junk under the hood.

Thanks again.

Yea, you can. You don't want the P/S working?

Well you can, but if you're going to the trouble it might be worthwhile to ditch the power steering box and put a manual one in.

The pump has always been bad and I dont need power steering.

I figure if I just fill and cap the box it will be better lubed than running dry like it has been.

Thanks for the time and advice.

Not having first hand exper. With this, but I have seen fellas just cap the ends at the box. I don't know if that's good or bad. Just what I have seen.

Don't do it!
If you ever get into an accident, you will be 100% at fault for tampering with your steering/safety devices on your car.
It will also take a LOT more effort to steer the car if you do this.
DON'T DO IT!

I think you will have a lot of play, and hard to turn, why not just get a reman pump, the p/s pump doesn't use much power and the ratio is like 15 to 1 a lot better than the manual at 20 to 1 , try rock auto for a good price
