Stick with me here...LOL
Someone had rigged up a 1982 carb to work in my 1965 Valiant. I have a thread about trying to figure out how to install the correct carb here:

Carb linkage and adjustment questions

I just about have that all figured out. It looks like they shortened the kickdown linkage my roughly 3/4", and the pedal rod was screwed nearly all the way in.
I have it all working now (if the return springs aren't too stretched from being in the wrong place), but I had to lengthen the kickdown rod.
I still need to check that I can get full throttle, and I'm told that if the rod is too long that shifts can be delayed.

I can see the witness marks on the kickdown rod where it used to be, and that's where I have it now.
Should I be worried about hurting the transmission with what I've done? I have the FSM and see how to adjust it, but I don't think I can access it in the garage.

Mods: just realized I posted this in the wrong forum.
Can someone move it to the automatic section, please?
