Im hoping to get some hotel suggestions for the area. I don't mind a little right to the venue.

Best I can do is say most people who attend book their hotel rooms now or while they are at the show the year before to make sure they have a room.
Most hotels are ugly (to put it mildly) if you go outside the direct area. I cannot recommend one in particular as most are $h!t holes unless you pay big money per night sadly. I did not go this year but looking to go 2026. I’m searching hard and no luck yet. It is so popular - not like 2020…. lol!

The camping inside the event is always sold out way in advance. There is a couple camping facilities behind the rear gate, and between the fire station and the diner. There are no hookups there though...

I will have to enquire about them… maybe I contact the Carlisle website

If you want camping with hookups go to werstern village RV park. It is about 4 miles away and just off allen Road/ Walnut Bottom road. Quiet, no problems and there will be a few car show folks there too.

I've stayed in Chambersburg the last few years that I've went. It was a Days Inn but now it's called something else. It's right off I 81. The price per night was cheaper than staying in Carlisle like I used to.

Does it have water and electricity for rv’s ?

yes, bad weather ya drive in bad weather.
But won't the bad weather also be there when we arrive? How do I keep it off my head, my clothes, is there some kind of apparatus we can bring to alleviate the suffering?

We just drive over, rain or shine, heck, the relentless sun and heat can do more damage.
Bring a 10x10 pop-up, you'll need it more for the sun than the rain.
Also, some people leave their vehicles there overnight.

Yes It is a regular commercial campground - Closest to The Fairgrounds. I tent camped there on an electric only site 2years ago, but they have full hookups as well and room for big RV's as needed. Look them up or give them a call. Book now before they are full.
