Terry was stationed near Maryland while he was in the Navy. I don't remember the year.. Maybe some of you can date it. :)

That’s a nice official looking time slip.

My first trips down a drag strip were in 1979 or 1980, in Sacramento, Ca.
Wednesday night fun drags.....$3 to race or watch.
If you wanted to race you went thru tech..... if you didn’t you just parked and watched.

The “time” slip was a scrap of paper with the car number and ET on it.
No speed on it most of the time.

The first time I got an actual official looking “time slip” was after I moved back east and went up into Canada to race at the “local” track(about 1-1/2hrs away).
It was a card similar to that Cecil slip, with the info written in the appropriate areas.
That was 1984.......best that day 13.86@101, iirc.
Street tires, 3.23’s, 4 speed, slipping clutch, 440, ex manifolds.

You left at a good time ... (never knew you were out here..)
all of the iron stands on the north side have been moved out, and they finally re-did the starting line out to 100' in concrete. Not much in changes otherwise. Except the pits is full of pot-holes.

I def miss having a track to race at that was only like 12 miles away.
The first passes I made in a car were in a 1972 Pontiac Luxury LeMans 4 door.
        350-2bbl auto.
I don’t remember the ET’s at all, but it was probably something like high 17’s.

I don’t recall if that was the first runs I made there or not though.
I had a 77 Yamaha RD-400 that I used to run there all the time.......but I don’t know which I ran there first. The car or the bike.

My local track. There's lots of history there. Hopefully it will be around for a long time.

My father in law told me about being in the quarantine line during the Cuban Missile Crisis, while stationed on the east coast, that aught to narrow it down.

Atlantic Speed in Wilmington Delaware during that time would’ve been the early to mid-70s

Growing up north of Baltimore (Ballimer, Merlin - home of the Oreos!), Cecil was the place to go! I made my first passes there and even won a trophy class trophy there in 1974 (unbeknownst to my dad who still owned the car).
Known as "the Traction Capital of the East" it was also a favorite haunt of the Ramchargers when they wanted to set class records.

Still drivin' the same car 48 years later. And speaking of place name pronunciation - if you grew up there like my wife's mother and grandmother (Rising Sun, Maryland) you lived in "Sisal" County
