So I took my 70 duster out for the first time in the 3.5 years I’ve owned it and everything went great except for when the speedometer made a loud snap noise and started bouncing all over the place. When I was doing around 55 it said I was doing 90 and when I was stopped it said I was doing 60. I removed the cable and took the cluster out but the needle never left the 20mph spot. I’ve been reading through here and see that it’s going to be expensive to repair the factory speedo. So my question is, if I get an aftermarket speedometer, how would I make it accurate for my gear ratio and tire size? I have a T56 magnum so I could go mechanical or electrical. Also what aftermarket speedometers do y’all have? I want something that goes higher than the factory 120mph.
    Thanks

Autometer GPS speedo. NO cables, no gears, easy peasy.

Repairing your original is cheaper than buying new.

I have had Deluxe Speedometer / Denver rebuild two speedometers. Each was completed in a timely manner at a reasonable price. I recommend them.

Ditto on Deluxe Speedometer ^^^^^^. They have rebuilt several 65 Speedo’s for me that I ended up eventually selling.

However, for my 65 wagon I decided to go with a custom dash using a 66 Barracuda bezel with a Dakota Digital conversion. The speedo is user programmable.

For my 47 I am going with Speedhut gauges. I chose for my Speedometer the 120 MPH gauge although higher speeds are available.
