Hey all, I thought I would just share my success with these chrome paint pens from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B212FXXQ?tag=fabo03-20. I used these to do the chrome rings around my 71 rallye dash lense pods since there are no aftermarket ones to buy. And this is how they came out. Touched up the chrome lettering on my new bezel as well with them.

Just made me remember I have one of those chrome pens. Tried to use it on a sail panel emblem on a 63 Dart GT. Mixed results. Great idea using one in the dash area. I'll try it!

I use them on my 1/25 scale models. I'm pretty happy with the results I get. Shaking the pen to mix well & good flow are key though to good results.

Zeyar liquid chrome marker? The link wouldn't work for me. I looked it up on Amazon

I used one for the raised letters on my friend's 82 Chevy Short bed dash panel after I painted it black. It came out really good, but I must say, @matt030305, it did not look quite as good as yours. I think the one I used was a different brand.

I was worried that it wouldn’t come out good since a lot of chrome paint pens market themselves as chrome but it’s up coming out more or a silver color. And it was in a spot where it was easy enough to just wipe off with some paint thinner.

yeah, pretty much every "chrome" paint or marker I've used just looks silver

That’s what I was worried about as well. I’ve used the lacquer chrome paint that you use in an airbrush for my previous dash and that even turned out to be more silver than chrome. These pens get a green light from me though. Definitely very convincing

Hey @matt030305 these look great. Can you give us a bit more detail on how you got it to work so well? Prep? Masking?

I’ve used those pens for other stuff before but it always turned out a bit blotchy/swirly. How’d you get it so smooth?

I honestly just put it on with little to no prep. Just clean the surface well. These pens specifically worked very well for me.

These pens have a fine point and a medium point (like the average sized sharpie) I used the fine side to get the chrome rings around my bezel.

1. Make sure there’s adequate paint on the tip by shaking and pressing on the point. It has to go on relatively wet in order to get a smooth finish.

2. Make sure that the surface you are refinishing is also smooth. Any imperfections on the surface will show right through to the chrome.
