Hi guys Im new here.

I just picked up a nice short block for a good price. I need to decide on what parts to finish it with.

The short block is a 372 cube small block. Its a 340 block with .070" 360 forged flat top pistons zero decked and a 3.58" crank.

The cam is a Mopar Perf. .590" solid (265@.050")

with a 64cc head it will have 11.5:1 comp.

I'll be using an M-1 single plane and a set of Hooker super comp 1-3/4" headers

The car is a 3000lb Barracuda that I hope to have in the low 11s

What I need to decide on is heads, carb, gearing and converter.

The car will run on 28X10.5" slicks.

Any help would be great.

:D

Thats a nasty sounding stick.

Your going to atleast need a well ported set of factory heads and some 4.30-4.56 gears. A good 9.5" converter would help also.

How much do you want to spend?

Indy has some nice heads

or

Edelbrocks will work too with some better springs and porting.

I would guess 4500 to 5000 stall would work nice with some 4.30's or 4.57's. If the motor won't spin 7200 rpms ++ run the 4.30's or you'll run out of gear with the mph you'll be at.

Click on the BIGS Carb banner on this board and you'll find everything you need in the carb department.

4500+ stall and 4.56 gears. Heads would really depend on budget, and talk to the card guys ( like at BIGS ) for carb selection. They could suggest the best carb for your application.

Oh....Welcome to the board :D

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I dont have any pictures of the car right now but when I get them I will post them, 8)
