Anyone have any info on these guys? They seem to have the best package deal. I was going to order a Robbins from rockauto but these guys have the same warranty and it comes with tacks, pads, and tension wires.

Are you wanting the corrrect top materials for your car or the materials for modern cars? I would get a hold of the company and request a material sample if you want it to look right on your car. My convertible had new style naterials and looked terrible so it will be dumped and replaced with the correct grain, texture and color top. I also want the OEM glass installed in my new top with brass zippers instead of plastic. I have to admitt that I am a purist but too but I want my car to be respected at the shows.

I have no idea if they have the correct materials and colors for our cars but here is their website if you want to contact them.

yeah they offer the pinpoint vinyl with a zipped plastic rear which is correct for my car. I am not sure about the zipper material though thats a great thing for me to ask

Are you planning on putting it on yourself?

If you are going to have it installed talk to the installer

Think mine was made in Greenville, SC at EZ top, I went cloth over stock, but they could have provided the correct style had I wanted it

My 2 cents, get it professionally done unless you know how to do it nothing worse than a bad top install

The last two tops put on my GTS were done by so-called "professionals". Poorly done before I bought the car in 1983 and poorly done when I had the top replaced in 2003. So, it really depends on who does it...

I'm going to do it myself under the supervision of a retired upholstery guy who has done tops for me in the past. I figure its the best way for me to learn how to do it. convertibletopguys.com is sending me sample material so I will let you guys know how it looks. Thanks for the input.

I think the leather interior installer that I'm doing some work for said he's talked to the guy and say's he seems pretty nice other than that I'm no help. (brass zipper on a plastic window is what I'm ordering but from a different place)

I'm getting ready to order my top and I've talked and am working with a guy that does HI-dollar builds and he tells me that due to the usage of the classic cars a vinyl convertible top is just as good as a cloth/canvas one on durability life 5-6 years tops before shrinking get too bad! (looks are another thing all together, cloth is the sure winner and that's the one I'd like except for the cost 249.00 Vs 579.00) he recommends that I get a top and kit from ez-on tops due to the fact that they just fit better in his opinion. so far I've helped on 3 top installs (66 Lincoln 4 door convertible and 2 Porches) and it seems straight forward to put it on. but I was working with a pro! (measure, measure, measure and take a LOT of pictures) then measure again and that's before you take the old pieces off! (hey gotta suck up to the pro's to learn how to do it to save money) if I didn't have anyone to help I'd have to farm it out to a pro. man you shoulda seen the OLD OLD Bentley that he did it was AWESOME! leather interior custom and the top too! it was sweet!

I ordered a top from M&T (convertibletopguys.com) and they shipped me a low quality Kee Auto Top. I took the top to a professional auto upholstery shop that has been around for 40+ years and does all of the tops for the local dealership.

After a couple of days, they called me with a whole list of quality and fit issues. I went to inspect - and the results were miserable. Wrinkles in the back panel - and the top was so ill-fitting that the top would neither open or close without force. Rivet and screw holes didn't line up with the car. I could go on, but you get the point.

M&T and Kee were of no help. Their customer service was miserable. Ultimately, I got the top returned to them and about a month and a half later I got a partial refund of the money I spent on the purchase of the top.

I then had to buy another brand of top from another supplier and pay for the installation of that top (despite the Kee warranty that was supposed to provide for credit toward the installation of another top if theirs wasn't adequate.)

The final result is that my car looks great, and I spent about $600 more than I would have if I had never heard of convertibletopguys or Kee.

If you love your car...just say NO. My recommendation... go to the dealer and get some auto upholstery shop recommendations then ask them who they use. BUT DON'T EVEN CONSIDER M&T, CONVERTIBLE TOP GUYS or KEE!

I'm going to put a different color top on my 66 dart. I talked with a professional leather interior person I know(I've seen some of his work and it is AWESOME.)
He just got done redoing the entire interior on an old Bently. Man was it beautiful.. anyway back to topic, while talking with him I asked him about the tops he uses. well seems he makes his own. But when he has to buy one or it's just easier to buy one, he buys one from either of these 2 companies .

EZ on tops (only saw black or white tops on the web page) but they might have color if I call and ask.

or Electron tops.(saw the tan color that I want)
the tops from those 2 companies are the best fit that he has found for the cars he has worked on and are supposed to fit better than others.
he also told me to buy the one that has a brass zipper instead of plastic also if I could (brass is stock looking but plastic works ok too) , so which ever company has the brass zipper and color is the one I'm going with.
For my top I have to contact convertible top specialists @ topsdown.com (they sell electron tops) and see what the cost will be. oh and if theirs has a brass zipper.

My blue cloth top is from EZON and looks great to this day

They have more than black and white tops

Robbins is considered the best in the business by more than one person I have talked to. I need to have the top done on my wife's '02 Sebring one of these days. Top only is a $1k deal...

Jim seriously look at the pick n pulls around you for a top. You can switch out frame and all in about an hour. I have ran across many good ones around here. Picked up what looked to be a brand new cloth one off a wreck for mine for $125

I would, but this car is too clean and doesn't have a common color top (navy blue). I may do that for the headliner, though. Both were sliced clean through before we bought it and "repaired" by the dealer.
