WTF, Just how it goes, ordered four p225/70r14's two weeks ago, just put them on tonight. Now got to look into. Thanks for the post.

A dirt track racing friend of mine just told me they are going to cease production on the Cooper Cobras soon. That's pretty much the tire of choice for most of the fendered cars that have to run DOT tires. Not going to leave them much choice in tires.

Just got off the phone with Cooper. Per their support rep, they are NOT discontinuing the Cobra tire. The also shared what happened in the recall. The tire plant in Mexico used the incorrect rubber in one of their tools associated with the tires belts. They knew what day and time it happened but not which exact tires were affected so they recalled all of tires made there during the time frame.

Just ordered 4 x 215/70-14 from "Discount Tire Direct". $85.00 each, plus $10 per tire for lifetime (up to 10 years or 3/32" tread) replacement / refund due to manufactures defect or road hazard. Free shipping, no tax! (they are owned by family that owns Discount tire but not the same company.)

I was going to buy them on E-bay but had some questions so i called them directly. The guy I talked to said he could give me the E-bay price. Tire rack wanted $50.00 more for 4 with a lesser warranty.
