    Guys,
Is anyone aware of a local welder who can modify aluminum wheels? I need to take a bit of metal out of a set of 15x8s to run on the front...looks like the going price for a job like this isn't cheap...hoping to at least avoid shipping and it's always best to support local businesses, IMO.

Rota RKR. They just don't make them in 15x7. I tried to pick an offset that would clear the fender for the front...which it did but as I was warned, 15x8" wide wheels are also likely to contact the control arm...which they do, even with a spacer.

Sweet wheels! I like the old minilites and panasports. Perhaps you could modify your steering stops to keep them from rubbing on hard turns. Also maybe an inner rim half from a three piece wheel might work. Machine off the inner bead down to the center and add the bolt pattern for the inner half.

I'll look into the steering stop idea...thanks.
As for the inner rim half--do you mean a spacer? If so, I think I've exhausted that option. :/

Not a spacer. It would be like a centerline autodrag but from the tire bead to the riveted part. That way you could just bolt it to the wheel and not have to deal with welding. I am not a fan of welds on aluminum wheels. All good aluminum wheels are either forged or spun and heat treated. Welding is like plain cast aluminum.

Thanks...I made a few calls but no one could do the job around here. I already shipped them to Michigan. I will keep Richard in mind for the next time!

Too late but there's a guy in nj that I had narrow some steel wheels. He used to do aluminum and work on motorcycle wheels too. Looks like they did a nice job.

Thanks...do you remember his name? This could come in handy in the future, particularly with a good recommendation like yours.
