I'm mocking up the stock floor shift steering column in my car and I've read the Reilly Motorsports Alterktion instructions. Near the back it says I might have to cut down the column outer tube some as it might hit the engine when it's in the car. Guess what, it hits the engine (head).

With about an inch ut out of the column surround leaving the main shaft coming out I'll have enough room. RMS sells a delrin bushings but also talks about cutting the surround down and putting a notch in it for the bearing. Since my bearing is in great shape I'd like to cut it down.

Does anyone have a how to on taking the column apart? Any pictures showing how you cut your surround down?

Thanks.
