Oh! I'm really slow today... yes, remove the ramps by photoshop and she's doing a wheelie....
OK, productive day today. I removed the driveshaft, disconnected all the transmission linkage, speedometer cable, tranny lines, PNS wires, and the transmission mount to the crossmember. Of course this included draining the tranny fluid. I also remove the mufflers. The underneath work should be done, and with the radiator already removed the other day, not much left to pull the 360/727
Also, just ordered a new speedometer gear. Here is the reason why… Ever see this before?

Ya thunk? LOL. Wonder what caused it….. the speedometer actually still worked great
They get hot and wear out. It's not uncommon. The driven gear is softer. The drive gear is the one that's a pain to replace, so the driven gear is sacrificial.
In 40 yrs, I think this is my first time having this happen to me. Must've been lucky. Cheap and easy to replace, so no issues
That 440 is probably going to respond to an 850 carb. Had a 650 on a 400 in a 3/4 ton reg cab with 3.55 gears and it ran a 15.30. Headers and a road runner intake was all that was on the engine but it did have an RV type came. If it had a bigger carb at the time, it would have been on it. Many will say 'too much carb' with that 850 but every time I went to a larger carb, the vehicle went faster. Yeah, too big for the street for sure, but....
I'll be running the 750 DP that's on the 360 now....

that's adjustable? You have the eccentric of the housing and the holder fits in the slots. That stuff is all set from the factory, but something happened LOL
There's always someone that knows how to ruin a wet dream.....so far, I've never seen one look like that unless someone has already been in there and had it apart for whatever reason.
440 source shipment will be here tomorrow. So will the rain
