I have a few Dana 60 truck rear ends left. I would like opinions on what your preference would be, if you were looking to buy 1 as a stock width "A" body rearend. The question is " would you want the standard mopar offset(1 long axle, 1 short axle) or centered pinion(equal length axles). The 1 I just did for my 71, I used the standard offset(1 long, 1 short). TIA, Rick. Not saying that I will be doing any real soon, but just a pondering thought.

I personally would do the offset like the factory, for a stock bodied car. A tube chassis car would most likely have the drive train centered.

E-mailed Cass and he said more Dana axles sold were of the std offset. 1 long, 1 short. Makes my decision a little easier, if I start doing Dana's.

Any chance any of those "few Dana 60 truck rear ends left" have a posi or sure grip, trak lok,etc in them? I have 2 Dana 60s. Both 80s truck. Both 3.54 open.one's original to my truck project and the other I just got a week ago.

I would center the pinion to the center line of the CAR, "WHATEVER" that requires.

Don, I have 3, but no spares. All have a home. Last 1 I bought 2 weeks ago about 45 minutes from you off FB. Power Loc with 35 spline side gears, recently rebuilt for 200.00. Up until then, I was about to order a new 1 from Dr Diff.

Ugh
Wish I would have known about that one. 2 hours from me is a little bit less than 1/2 of the distance I went last Sunday for the one I picked up. $100, 3.54/3.55 open. I went to Lima Ohio for this one. Out of an 84 D250. still laying in the bed of my 12 1/2 ton. Haven't had anyone around to help me muscle it outta there since I got back. Seller had it chained onto the back of an 8N tractor 3 point that I was able to back right up under ...
The bad part? I was at this guys place last August, bought the gas tank out of the same truck ( rest of truck was gone, he'd bought it for the motor and trans to put into a 50s dodge truck (I think he said '52); and parted/scrapped the rest. He practically begged me to take this Dana 60 then, I think then he only wanted $50 for it.
If I didn't already have a heaping bed load of parts I'd picked up that trip, plus my camping gear besides, I'd have gotten it then.
But that was before I discovered a (very fixable) problem with my original Dana 60. The driver side back spring had 2 busted leaves, and when I put the new springs on I found out that the perch on that side is bent/ banana'd downward in line with the center bolt hole. I'm probably gonna undo the u bolts on that side, cut the bent perch off and weld in a new one. When I contacted him a couple of weeks ago to see if he still had it he said yeah,$150. When I reminded him who I am and he remembered that I was out there last summer he said "we"ll work on that"
I got there and we settled on $100.
Around me if anyone even had one it would be $400. That's why I bought so much parts on my camp trip to Ohio last year. Parts seem more plentiful and definitely cheaper out there
There's 3 separate guys not far from me that always advertise parts for these trucks. And show barns full of them. But every time I call and ask if they have what im after the answer is always a universal "no"
