I'm ready to order a new Dana style rear end for my '69 Cuda. Does anyone here have any experience of buying one from either of these two companies? (I haven't found any other manufacturers)

I'm concerned about product quality, cost and customer service. (I called both companies once a while back; wasn't really prepared to buy at that time but they didn't know; I remember getting an "attitude" from one of the sales guys, but don't remember which company. I sure hate giving a couple of grand to a company whose employees have an attitude.)

    I appreciate your input...

O.K., i have a bare housing from a Dodge 3/4 ton, how much work do you think it would take to do one up?
I am a welder, that's no problem there, but what would you do and what would it cost for parts alone?
I thought the S 60 from Strange would be a good deal for 2 grand being that it's all new and already set up for you.
I'm serious, i plan on doing this to my car next year, or buying an S 60.
I agree, there's nothing like a Dana 60 under an A-Body, or any other Mopar for that matter!

If you have the housing already depending on how much you can get the parts for. I say on the low side $650 on the high side $1200

Thanks everyone for your input on this. I'll be ordering an S60 this coming week. Couple more questions if y'all can help me out. Strange recommends Ford bearings / housing ends. I believe this would be the best setup for the Baer disc brakes, as Baer sells a lot of brakes for that arrangement. Anyone have any other input on this?

Also, I plan to race this car with 9" slicks from time to time and am thinking I should put longer studs in the rear to please the track's tech inspector. I haven't bought aftermarket wheels in a long time to know whether 5/8 vs.1/2 studs would be a problem when buying wheels? Should I get 5/8 or is 1/2 plenty enough? Also, is there a typical, average length you guys are buying or are you ordering specific, longer studs based on the wheels you're using? I'm concerned because I'm not at the point yet for selecting my wheels.

Am I clear in my questions (?) or am I just rambling on again? LOL Thanks in advance for the input...

I would call Cass (Dr. Diff) He knows more about Mopar rear ends than most. He will tell you everything you need to know about building a S60 for your car. He is a dealer and can save you some $$$ over ordering directly from Strange. Plus he gets to put a little coin in his pocket for helping you out. That's what I did.

BTW, mine came with the long studs installed for the track.

See if there is a 2" screw-in wheel stud option. That's what I use with my 8 3/4" Moser axles and Holeshot wheels. The wheels have a 1/2" center so there is no sense in having wheel studs any longer than necessary.

Holeshot Wheels are race only, but there are no concerns if you only use tham at the track with slicks. However, some people do "carefully" use them on the street. Thicker centers and rims halves are available for added strength, but are still sold as race-only.
Many style and offsets are available.

How fast is your '69? 1/2" studs are more than enough for most applications. 5/8" studs will prevent the use of OEM wheels if it's a street/strip car.

1/2 is fine, strange will send the rear with the studs in the axles.

Thanks for the input Myron. Yeah, 2" sounds plenty enough. Awesome car you're running and I congratulate you on your accomplishments with it. Thanks for turning me on to the wheel brand. They have a cool gray, star shaped wheel I really like...

I'll see what Strange has to say, but can anyone give me some input regarding pinion angle? I had always planned on using my stock 8 3/4 in this car and most lately, decided on the Dana. I'll be using springs roughly equivalent to a Formual S spring with my Tremec. Should I be concerned about having them weld the perches on at any angle degree other than stock? An if stock, does anyone know what the angle is, just so I can verify with Strange that they know what that is? Really appreciate your input guys. I want to order this rear end this week if possible. Booooyah!
