i have a 65 dart gt with 10 inch manual drums front and rear. they work good but get hot quickly and chatter. my front end could use rebuilt..what causes the chatter? all drum hardware and shoes look to be in good condition.. thanks dustin

I think firm feel sells sintered metallic brake linings for the ten inch a-body brakes. The parts store linings are not performance compound. One good stop is all their good for. Get them hot and your done. I just bought a 68 D100 that had all four wheels done with cheap parts store chinese linings and they get got and fade quick. I am probably going to go disc when I get a chance to make some conversion parts.

Welcome tothe wonderful world of drum brakes.

Chatter could result from out of spec run out of drum or hardened high spots, drum turned past speck limits, contaminated brake lining from brake fluid, wheel bearing grease, incorrect radius of shoe to drum (shoe has to be re-radiused to a turned drum for full contact), or worn out shoes.
