Dart Special Edition door pull strap removal

Dudes!!! I’m wanting to install my fancy sport mirrors on this heap, have everything removed/UNclipped except this thing.

Before I go and mutilate things does anyone know how these covers/clips come off?

Don't the woodgrain inserts pop out, exposing the screws?

I have yet to notice the 'clips' - as the old eyes continue to wander around the paint scheme, wondering what that particular story might be.

The woodgrain is a sticker on the chromed metal piece. The chromed metal piece “wiggles” so I suspect the whole thing slides off somehow, I just didn’t get too forceful because I didn’t want to break something impossible to replace.

You can’t really get to the backside of it without bending the door panel.

I tried prying up on it a bit but I didn’t see anything obvious. I moved onto a different project and I’m going to try again tomorrow.

I love eBay, sometimes it’s the best research tool available. Found both the strap and retainer on different auctions, hopefully I can get this off now that I know what I’m working with.
