Okay, maybe to be accurate, how about Depressing movies that you have seen.
I love movies. Some are sad but in a good way.
I want to see what you think is a Depressing movie.
Tonight, Less Than Zero was on. Robert Downey Jr played a drug addict deeply in debt that resorted to being a gay prostitute to pay off what he owes. In the end, he dies in what is assumed to be heart failure.
I've never seen it but....Passion of the Christ....Two hours of Jesus being abused and tortured? Really?
Oh yeah...Leaving Las Vegas too. Nicolas Cage gets fired and moves to Las Vegas to drink himself to death.

Gattaca with Ethan Hawk. The entire movie feels dystopian and sad.
    Repo Men with Jude Law.
    Red Dawn, the original.
    What is on your list?

"Passion of the Christ", I saw it in theater. Grew up in church, I've read through the bible multiple times, but seeing the portrayal of the crucifixion on the big screen was incredibly impactful.

& all of the star wars movies MADE after return of the jedi (cant keep pre-and sequel straight) I still watch the first one now and then. I was 6 or 7 when it came out. We drove from Ronceverte West Virginia to Roanoke to see it. So a one shot deal. My cousins all got to see it dozens of times in the theater. Anyway, the rest of them were a let down I thought.
I know they were the bad guys but I always felt bad for them in Das Boot at the end.... but I watch that over and over Im afraid.

Passion of the Christ my take:
Blood and gore doesn't bother me, however my wife and I bugged out in less than 10 minutes.

first off, if it has nicolas cage i refuse to watch it...hes just one of that actors i can not stand

so, are you asking for movies that are so sad you can only watch them once, or sad movies bad enough you only made it through them once?

I have never been able to watch any Horror movies. I also don't need any downers at this time. Hollywood is mostly brain dead stupid political idiots. If you want to see good movies, start in the 40's through maybe 70's. I can hit the eject button in less than 5 minutes if I don't like the characters, the plot, or think it is going in a bad direction. I have a lot of movies and serials on the shelf. I am always looking for good shows. TCM has some real gems from time to time. Some newer stuff I have enjoyed is from Christian movie makers. Have to agree about Star Wars after the original trilogy, I don't think I even saw the last three. And we saw the original Star Wars about 7 times in the theater. Better to start a good movie thread.

Requiem for a Dream (very disturbing)

All of them good movies in my opinion, but once was enough

Ordinary People...I would not watch again, but I did see it twice, when it came out and saw it again recently.

I agree some movies are sad in a good way, but I really have to be in the right mood.

There are some movies that I honestly liked, but won't ever watch again because an actor is dead to me.
Robin Williams is one of those.
You intentionally kill yourself, to me that means you erase yourself from everything, to include even the good.
I hold that standard to music as well.

How ironic, I taped this movie today so I can watch it this weekend. I have seen it before but it's a good movie.

With all the crap on TV, I would sure like to be able to watch Mork & Mindy a lot, just to be able to laugh. That was some funny shit in my warped mind & Mindy was very easy on the eyes!
Now back to the topic of the discussion, sorry!

I have Mork and Mindy 1-3 seasons. Williams reminded me of my brother Tom who was away at College. Loved Pam Dauber.

I'm not sure about depressing, but I hate movies where the main character gets completely sucker punched the whole movie, then it's all well and good at the end. Not for me, that's enough for me to never watch it again. Anger Management is one of those movies. Saddest movie I've ever watched and I only made it through once? Schindler's List.
