The 64 Barracuda is on a temporary hold due to financial constraints. I spent some time with my daughter detailing the car for the first time since 1981. The paint needs some loving for sure.

That's very cool your daughter has an interest in the car. It looks like you may still have a forged crank mechanical lifter 273 in that old girl. Thanks for the pictures.

The car came to me via my cousin who got it directly from Grandpa. The car will be signed over to her name once the ownership is changed from my cousins.
I will have to look up a "forged crank mechanical lifter" because I have the basic understanding of what that means but not the detail of it

The crankshaft on the early 273 was forged rather than cast. It is a higher quality crankshaft. Under the valve covers you should have mechanical rocker arms that are adjustable. The early ones may not have the "banana groove" oiling but they are still desirable. Yours probably have the small straight grooves due the very early 273 engine.

Thank you for that information. I will be taking the valve covers off to get e-coated soon so I will be able to take a peek and see what's there. Once I do that I will take some pictures to post. (It also a means for me to remember)
