Rural king has it for 29.99 for 2 gallons. Does this work well in a 1975 dart with 904?

It will work, but I myself prefer the Ford Type F
fluid because it has a better coefficient of
friction and shifts a bit firmer in my experience.

$ 5. and change at Walmart.

Type-F in every 727 and 904 since the 80's . Transmissions behind some pretty wild engines. Recommended in the DC performance book by Mopar. Been using it since I bought the books.

Dexron 3 would be similar to the factory fill. They have friction modifiers in the fluid to “soften” the shifts. They type “F” ford fluid does not and hence makes a good choice for us that prefer a firm shift without buying the crazy expensive aftermarket “race” fluids back in the day.

So, if your servicing an existing system, dexron, if your building and filling from new, type “F”

Yes dex 3 will work fine. That’s all Nick Allison runs in his 904 and puts multiple seasons of racing in it before changing the fluid.
