If you post up a help request for some diagnostic help on your modern day vehicle then at the very least you should be trying the diagnostic strategies that members take the time out of their day to provide.

You need both and I have known many old and experienced techs that have limited electrical/diagnostic/computer/scanner abilities that struggle immensely with diagnostic problems
