Just got a stock replacement engine oil dipstick tube for our 5.9 and it doesn't seem to fit quite right. When I put it into the hole and line of the mounting tab, it sits away from the engine at quite a distance, 3-4 inches. I seem to recall it being secured to the end of the passenger head. Is it normal to simply bend them into shape?

Also, we're in need of a transmission dipstick and tube that will fit a 65 valiaint w/904. Stock or junk yard stuff is preferred for cost reasons.

Anyone?

The stock truck 5.9 magnum dipstick bolts to the alternator/accessory bracket.

That dip stick would not work, it is calibrated to the factory truck oil pan. You need a dipstick and tube to match the oilpan you're using.

It's for the transmission, not engine oil.

EDIT, sorry, you're referring to the first part of the post, thanks
