distributor moving around help please

-
Ok after you guys insisted so much i went an checked the fit again using a distributor case without a shaft i get a maximum of 0.004" of clearance betwen the distributor case and the block with mi entire distributor i get about 0.010" im about to sand this shaft blade...

Considering where you are, and the non-availability of parts,, trimming 8 thou off won't affect anything even if the shaft does work it's way down.. imho

mind you,, a coupla beer cans and scissors = shims.. empty the cans first ..lol....

That would have me questioning whether the intermediate shaft is installed all the way. Maybe it cannot go down flush against the bushing because it is.........bent.

As mentioned,, the I/shaft prob isnt in far enuff,, so when you clamp the distributor down,, it crams the dist spade, down into the I/shaft slot in a manner that it can't "float" in the slot, thus transmitting the motion to the dist.. The dizzy is actually being pushed up..

If you can't get the I/shaft to tap down a little lower,, and you can't shim the dist up, perhaps consider grinding a bit off the bottom of dizzy shaft, just enuff clearance for it to "float".. jmo

hope it helps..

You are entirely right sir that was exactly the problem... i used a machete file to remove some material from the spade and installed a paper gasket under the dist and :cheers: no wobble at any engine speed thank you a lot man
