DIY tail light gaskets?

After some crazy rain, we realized the gaskets for the tail light bezels on our 65 valiant are junk. They'd be pretty easy to make but I'm hoping someone has a good pointer to what material to use and or the specific patterns for them. If info like this is posted somewhere, pointers would be great.
 
Just a thought, but looking at my 'cuda, I was thinking about a big bead of silicone to augment the gasket. Let it squish out and fill the abnormalities, set up, and then trim off the excess. Maybe this would work for you.
 
If I can get exactly the materials I need and get it right on the first try... every once in a while making something myself comes out cheaper and occasionally better. More often NOT. Usually have to buy too much of the wrong stuff -:( And I eventually end up replacing it again. :BangHead:
