Though not an A-body it's still Mopar. My friend is kind of up the creek right now having extreme limit on transportation at the moment because their 2000 Neon won't start. They were driving it down the road and it shut off all of a sudden. Appeared that the timing belt broke on the car, yet when installed a new one it won't start anymore. Could it be that the timing wasn't aligned back up when the new belt was installed or could something might of been damaged from the sudden stall ? again it is just a standard a 2000 model, standard transmission, with the 2.0 L engine. Thanks for any help at all or opinions on what could be a problem.

I believe it's an interference engine, needs a valve job and likely some valve replaced.

Not to kick you when you're down but... at this point you have to hope that all it did was bend a few valves. If the engine was revving high enough, the valve guides will be cracked along with other damage to the head as well as the pistons.

The 2.0 isn't an interference engine.
I would strongly suggest you check the cam sensor. It is located on the end of the head. Make sure the engine is getting fire.
Replaced many of those over the years.
When you replaced the belt, did you replace the tensioner? There were 2 types, mechanical and hydraulic, as I recall chrysler came out with a conversion. This is something that needs to be replaced or the belt will jump time.
