how can I tighten the door and quarter panel gap on a 68 barracuda? there is not much adjustment on the hinges, which seems odd, do I have to shim them? I got the car in pieces did they have any type of shims?

I had the same problem and thought I pulled the car to far on my Duster It ended up being the doors were two different lengths. I have seen this on other cars that I had to weld a piece of round stock on the rear of the door to make the gap correct.

Put the doors on and get them aligned without the strikers in place. Then fit the fenders and hood with the grill surround. You may find that if you move the door back then the fender will have to come back to far and the hood seams will be crooked.

Fit all the panels and see what is off before you make a decision on what is not aligned . Just some info that you may want to consider. I been through it all doing body work on these cars for years. Sometimes you make more work if you don't check it all first. Steve

old man I used to be of the same though pattern but the hood is the all seeing as I have learned... align the hood to the cowl, then the fenders and nose if it has one, lastly doors.

as far as gaps mopars were pretty bad but if you have to you can lead up the gaps some, cut and section, then weld, but don't fill with mud...
