My rear passenger door handle button is sticking bad when I push it in to open the door. I noticed the bottom of the handle has a gap between the door as well. I have to bump the handle down to get it unstuck. Any way to fix this? Pretty sure that gap is the issue.
Is the handle loose? If so, pull the panel off of the door, CAREFULLY and tighten it up and lube the mechanism.
I know you are new to the hobby, so if you do pull the panel, be careful as they can be brittle. It might be an optical illusion, but the outside panel right by the handle 'looks' like it may have a small dent? If that's the case that could be why it has the gap you are seeing.
try shooting some powdered graphite in there first. sometimes you can spray some good rust penetrant in there, might clean off paint if good. like said, if old door panels be REAL careful, the vinyl is brittle even if they look like new, and the cardboard backing is generally deteriated in places. good luck with it all.
I had one on our 72 that the button stuck down so I wiggled the button and it popped back out. Then I got the WD40 and gave it a shot in the center of the button between the button and the handle metal and that solved it. The OP is going to have to take the panel off anyway to tighten that handle up, or replace it if it's broken because that is in no way normal or something they just do. Luckily it's a piece of cake to do.
There's a small hole on the side of the door. You can try using an allen wrench to adjust the latch from there.....
