Hey all I'm looking for a dual snorkel scoop to add to my 73 dart sport. I've heard that the scoops are different for dusters and darts because of the ridge in the hood on the dart. Does anyone have a picture of this difference? Or a scoop they know fits this car? Lol thanks

Here is the original one that i put on my '74 Dart Sport project.
It is off a '74 360 Dart Sport and was originally installed on that car by the factory.

Same question for me. Would like hood scoop for my 69 barracuda. Same hood as far as I can tell. Have seen a few of the twin scoops for sale, but they all seem to be for flat hood cars.

Your 69 hood was later used on the Duster. I'm not sure which year. The base is contoured to fit the non flat hood.

From the research I have done the 69 cuda and 73-76 Dart sport have the same hood with the ridge. The dusters have the flat hood that goes all the way to the front of the car. I just don’t know what hood scoops can fit what car & if the wrong one can be modified to fit.

Thanks! Im still not seeing anything that jumps out as different front those that are for the duster hood but I'll study the photos tonight.

The top section is basically the same. There is a screw/bolt on lower piece that changes from flat to peaked hood if I understand this correctly.

I have a nice piece that was on my 69 with factory peaked hood for many years and it was bolt on and fit nice and tight to the hood. It has a small crack on one corner but easily repaired.

Ok, did some research. Using the part numbers from 383s’s post, The 3573698 is the part number for the 72 flat hood. The 3672605 is the 73 dart sport with the ridge hood. They are two piece. The top is the same for both. The bottom is different for the flat or ridged hood.

Are both of those part numbers marked on the top piece?

Yes as seen!

Are there any markings visible on the bottom half?

Thanks for the help!

Would have to go out to the shed and likely disassemble it. To my recollection there is no visible part number on the front lower bolt on piece. There is likely a number on the top, unvisible side of it. Sounds like they put the part number stamp for both pieces in plain site.

Yeah, that is what it looks like. Just curious if there was one easily visible. Not worth taking something apart that might break. There seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there that says the flat hoods and rigded hoods take the same scoop. Obviously not, but maybe folks just grind a notch for ridged hoods.

Looks like you found a guy who has one Dodgefreak

Yeah, they are not the same other than the top. Imagine you can grind a notch but belief there are still plenty of real deal units out there that fit right if you are willing to drill holes in your hood. Cost me plenty to undo all that!

69 barracudas look sweet with that scoop though! If I had not restored a real 383 car it would still be on it.

I like hoods with some character. I had a 68 cuda in my youth. I really liked the hood inserts that year, particularly the ones with the 340S or 383S on them. I thought they went backwards eliminating them in 69. Just haven’t figured out quite what to do with mine yet.

Nice paint and Bold original stripes diminish it. In retrospect I am happy with my decision to remove it.

Yeah, I would do the same on an original 383 too. Mine was an original 318 car, so not high value & pretty much a driver, so I feel a little more a liberty to experiment. Didn’t see any finished pictures in your photos. Post one?

Edited, sorry a little off tonight.

Wow, really nice! My 68 was that color. Really like that white stripe!

69 models got the low end treatment for sure! The 68 model seemed the best of the 2nd gen cars with CID on the hood and overall badging.

Scoop was never offered on a Duster from the factory, but they sure look good on them.

69 Barracuda hood is the same as 73-76 Dart and Dart Sport.

72 Demon scoop is flat on the bottom.

73 and up Dart Sport scoop is recessed on the bottom to clear the small bulge and ridge.

Therefore the 73 and up scoop will fit a 69 Barracuda.

People grind to make what ever fit the ridge on F body hood. No big deal if needed to go from flat scoop to ridge hood.

Here's pictures of the 1972 only scoop, they only have 1 part number and are flat on the bottom. If you happen to find one of these that haven't been cut I would trade it or sell it to get the one you need, they are getting really hard to find uncut.
